Social Media and SEO measurement ideas

Some measurement Ideas for your Social Media and Search Engine Optimization Campaigns.
Measurement depends on the aims of the campaign.
Here are some measurements I use, and apply to social media as well as other marketing channels. They may not all be appropriate, or achievable, but should help get you started.
1. Increased Revenue
This measurement is the easiest and most straightforward. What was the level of business you or your client was achieving before the search engine optimization (seo) campaign started, and what is the level they are achieving afterwards? Has it gone down, up or stayed the same.
2. Increased Visitor Numbers
Are there more visitors now than before the seo campaign started? Make sure you break down the channels the visitors are coming in from. Who are they? Where are they from? Are they the right demographic?
We have been working with www.JackOfAllGames.co.uk since July and can see since the seo campaign started there has been a 155% increase in visitor numbers.
It does not have to be complicated, a simple graph gives you or your client an immediate visual understanding of the impact your campaign is having.
3. Reach/Spreading the word
This is one of the most difficult aspects to measure. Google Trends can be used to pinpoint spikes in attention across the net. Are you being mentioned more than your competitors? Are you mentioned more across blogs, Twitter, Facebook, mainstream media?
4. Search Activity
Are more people searching your brand after your social media campaign?
5. Links
Have you received more links since your social media campaign? This is one of the huge values of social media, when combined with SEO. Social media can be such a powerful link building method.
Why should you measure?
The end result shows you whether all your time, effort and money is paying off. Your clients are more likely to spend more money with you if you show them it is working.
