What sets you apart from the competition is your ability to connect. Here are a few simple tips.
- Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that reads, "Make me feel important".
- Seek out a common interest. People want others to be like them.
- Don't work from a script. I personally find a natural conversation works better; One script does not fit all.
- Remember the remarkable. I find it quite easy to remember most things my clients talk about. However, it often helps jotting down their comments, so next time I talk to them I can ask "How did the holiday in Canada go? Was the Prince Of Wales as good as you thought?" This not only makes my clients feel important, it shows I'm listening to them.
- Cultivate curiosity. Too many people fail to realize that real communication goes in both directions. Do you actually stop talking and just sit back and listen. It can be a real eye opener.
- Act like a good listener. Make sure your body language portrays someone who is open and receiving. Remember your face gives away a lot.
- Resist the urge to be a one-upper. We all do it, intentionally or not.
- Ask effective questions. Think about what you're hoping to learn, and remember that an open-ended question is almost always more effective than one that elicits a simple Yes or No answer.

I charge SEO prices based on the amount of hours I think a project will last. Depending on a clients budget, that project may have to be worked on over a number of months instead of what could take weeks.
